Oil pump jacks have always been conservatively designed using century old technology.  While it works, the gearbox is twice as big, twice as heavy and more expensive than it has to be.  Fairfield designed and produced a line of modern drives.  Thousands were sold during the last market shortage twenty years ago.  Most are still running today.
