Fairfield produced the axles for this car mover.  Both were identical and had a differential and spiral bevel gear set in the center with a planetary reduction on each side.  These drove the rail wheels directly and on the occasional times when the machine was moved off rails, the rubber tires were lowered hydraulically   The tread interlocked with projection on the rail wheel.
